Between the Sacred and the Salt

MAAR is a studio for designer jewelry and accessories, created by Graziele Neves — a publicist and anthropologist from Bahia/Brazil, passionate about art, her hometown, Salvador, and, especially, the sea.

Guided by the desire to create with her hands and soul, Graziele created MAAR with the purpose of developing unique pieces that celebrate ancestry, nature and the sacred. Each creation is born from the intention of generating connection — between people, memories and elements.

The materials used vary from natural stones, pearls, cowries, shells, beads, brass, stainless steel and silver. The inspirations come from the sea, Afro-Brazilian culture, religions of African origin, contemporary art, natural elements and the cultural wealth of Salvador.

Each piece carries meaning and purpose. It is a connection between the visible and the invisible, between the earth and the sea, between fire and air, between the sacred and the material.
